@TimeToLiveCustoms i have no idea to set the volts on my p8p67 asus evo , i can ajust the digi + vrm settings , when i set them higher the voltage on load increases{ to 1.3} , thats the only thing i know to increase voltage
@machielste1 3.8 is low for these chips dude. temps are ok tho. Just remember to manually set the volts not leave them on auto.
@gabrocki
L3 cache is used by programs for accessing frequent important data that can be stored in it without having to resort to main system RAM. L3 cache is much faster to access than system RAM for frequently needed program data, so it gives certain things like games a performance boost because of it.
@Atheismrulez thank you:D the answer might be long or i might dont even understand it but what does the L3 do? does teh intel i5 2500K have more? sorry for my thousands of questions but im totally confused. im not sure in anything yet, all i know is i need a new pc. and thanks for your help, i appreciate it!
@gabrocki
No problem.
The reason why some say the Phenom II X4 is better than the X6 for gaming is because the 6MB of L3 is distributed over a smaller amount of cores (more cache per core). In reality, though, the X6 and the X4 are evenly matched when it comes to gaming, which is why I don’t recommend the X6 for gaming.
hey m8 , i have a 2500k and a hyper txt 212 , i have set the multiplyer to 38 , so turbomode is now 3.8 , i get 55c at max load prime tester .
Is that healthy? , also i get 5.30 at 32 bit cinebench
@savator408 lol, very few reach only 4,2ghz stable… most can do 4,4ghz quite easy…
@Atheismrulez FINALLY! some one answering. love you bro, thanks. my budget will probably let me to, i just didnt know if its really faster. i wouldnt go with the phenom II x6 series cause i heard its not as good as the phenom II x4 series (i was told why but im not a guru and i cant remember. they said something about some cache or whatever). i jsut wanted to know if the 2500K IS stronger than the phenom and THATS why it costs more. thanks again sir!!!!!!
@gabrocki
The Core i5 2500K is around 25% faster overall and consumes less power, not to mention it over-clocks on average to 4.6GHz while the 970 can only muster 4GHz. By then, the difference between the two is around 40%, which is quite huge.
There’s no reason to go for the 970, to be honest. The reason for that is that even the low-end Phenom II X4s like the 925 over-clock just as good and cost a lot less.
But, if your budget allows, go for the 2500K. It’s much faster in everything.
this, or the AMD Phenom II x4 970? please reply which should i choose and WHY!!!
@Intel1502 im sure it will….not sure if im going to upgrade my i5 2500k for the ivy bridge though since the i5 2500k is already really fast…
@savator408 Yeah- but I plan to bring it along to Ivy bridge.. (as long as cooler socket allows)
@Intel1502 not all cpu’s are the same….some i5 2500k can only reach 4.2ghz some can go higher….but on air t cooler using the Prolimatech Armageddon i was able to reach 4.5ghz running stable with the i5 2500k…Prime 95 i was getting around 55-60c on avg…Don’t really need watercooling for the new sandy bridge chips…For the older 1366 or 1566 yes but for 1155 air is fine…
@Intel1502 you can swap without draining if you build it right yes matey.
@TimeToLiveCustoms Exactly what i’m looking for! I want something that will give me a cpu that stays super cool and can be used on higher end chips (1155 ivies – when they come out). I also like the "bling" factor of UV blue lighting
BTW; do you think I can swap CPU’s (getting hands in and cleaning block, putting in ivy) without draining the loop (just loosening the block, cleaning it placing back on etc.)… Sorry for all the questions, I know you’re a very busy man… =}
@Intel1502 a decent air cooler would max out the cpu. all water will do is have lower temps.
Using XSPC rasa 750 RS240 kit on this chip. What do you think my max o/c would be?
@iXzybitionz 2600K u mean?
I got one of these and wasn’t really expecting that much of a difference over my Q9300, how wrong I was. This is at least twice as good as my Q9300 at stock.
I’ve got it OC’d to 4.4GHz and the vcore hovers around 1.24V under load. The hottest core never goes above 70C with a Tranquillo cooler. Would this be fine for 24/7 use? Any help would be much appreciated.
@Zillamp3z the K series are overclocking CPU’s dude. Bracket wise 1156 is the same as 1155
Cant wait for you to get the i7 2500k!
Is there a large difference from the 2400 to 2500 cpu’s?
and also what cpu cooler should I use to for 1155, no brackets for 1155 are on sale here :/
Anyone know why my multiplier just stays at x48? i dont have the (16-33) nor the fluctuating multiplier and I am concerned.
I have a feeling you had PhysX turned ON when you ran the 3DMark Vantage test, skewing the CPU score. If you turn that off and run the test I think it will be a realistic number to gauge the CPU’s performance by.
