ASUS obviously won’t be the only game in town when it comes to slapping a pair of graphics cards together in one unit. While this company is readying its Mars II, which mates a pair of Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 GPU – PowerColor several similar maps to marry some of the latest GPU for HD AMD for Radeon together.

In particular, PowerColor Radeon HD will offer 6970 X 2 and 6870 X 2, each of which bundles together two of its namesake chips in one massive unit. Strange enough, PowerColor Radeon HD already sells 6990, which also combines two 6970s. So why 6970 X 2? VR-zone reports that while 6990 decreased the speed of the reference clock of each GPU, (which may be kept in play mode), 6970 X 2 does not require any transmission down. It also increases the speed of the clock memory 1250MHz to 1375MHz. in other words, the PowerColor X 6970 probably thinks his 2 will outperform 6990, that we do not know if it will be any cheaper, with no pricing or release date was disclosed.

We know that 6870 X 2 will cost $ 449 when it arrives in the third quarter. PowerColor asserts that its unit will be the top performance of the price, in the same way GeForce GTX 580 with 30 percent. It will be cheaper than PA several separate 6870 cards and use them in CrossFire X configuration. As always we will have to wait for some independent benchmarking can see how they really stack against competition. If nothing else, is encouraged to see some manufacturers to crack in the dual-GPU graphics cards, which go beyond the basic units, with which they are submitted.
