@pumbakung *yawn thats intel speedstep. clocks the chip down to low speed when its idle.

    d00d you boched it
check 6:08 you can see that his frequency is at 1805.85 MHz @ 200.65x 9.0
    nice fail d00d

    what RAM do you have?

Hi i have the same borad and cupu like you buy how about the memory, myn is Kingston hyperX 2000 mhz ddr3 T1 i can’t tell full name of it, i have tried to do so like you did and Bsod coms out i can’t setup write mem timeinges for my memory, can you help me on this somehow…thx

Update: Using P7P55D-E, i7875k is @ 4 GHz! Seems to be perfectly stable. Just turned level UP to the "crazy 3.52" setting – which makes other adjustments (such as turning off C-states and overclocking the ram) automatically, then turning up the cpu multiplier to 25, and the vcore to 3.25 – Done! I can turn it all off and go back to stock in a minute. I also keyed in the ram frequency and timing.

They also told me that you cannot save bios profiles, but, although I haven’t tried it yet, it appears to me as though you can. Asus seems fairly disinclined to offer any help whatsoever for anything even slightly related to overclocking :o )

  7. steveschizoid says:

Isn’t the cpu multiplier independent of ram speed? I understand that if you increase the bclock, the ram speed increases, but someone told me the dram speed dialog shows the speed based upon the current bclock, so that it can be adjusted independently. Then again, Asus tech support told me that the ram speed could not be adjusted independently. …

@steveschizoid hey dude im not too sure on overclocking that cpu with 1333mhz ram. atleast have 1600 cause once the cpu is linked with the ram it tends to send ram frequencies to 1600 or more

  10. steveschizoid says:

Thanks XxaravixX! I am about to try OC’ing for the first time. (I was going to use the "3-step" process you may be familiar with) I’m wondering if your settings might be a shortcut. I have a i7 875k and 1333 ram (I already have the cas latency timings set accordingly). Also, I have a Thermaltake Silent 1156 CLP0552 92mm CPU Cooler – any idea whether or not this will be sufficient? I use my computer as part of a recording studio, and i’ve been fighting against limited cpu resources of late.

@pounchoutz woah 1.4 vcore is kinda high for that mhz. look up on overclock(.)net there are lots of people who will tell you what to do

  12. pounchoutz says:

@pounchoutz yeah i recently figured this out anyway after just overclocking to 3.8 but not really knowing 100% what to do with the voltage. I was playing Bulletstorm when all the sudden the comp crashed… this happened 3 more times. so i reset to defaults and i was fine. I’m going to study up on OC CPU in general before i try again. Right now i seem to have it stable at 3.5 with 1.4 on the vcore but thats about the extent of my knowledge.

  13. XxaravixX says:

@pounchoutz you check stability with a stability testing program. either prime 95 for around 8 hours or occt linpack test for 1 hour. bios will load fine most the time but torture tests are where the real stability is shown

  14. pounchoutz says:

When you say check if its stable does that mean it wont boot at all if its not stable or is there a test run or something in the bios??? Im new to oc and so far i have gotten my 950 to 3.3 but im scared to do anything with voltage. Is there a certain eqaurion for getting a good voltage or does it all have to do with testing it out over and over? Thank for the help

  15. Spliffstar26 says:

@NikkexD I have the same setup as you and run at 3.8ghz with low voltage, and power saving features enabled. Speedstep c1e etc.

Hit me up if you want me to go through my settings with you.

Also i have G.skill ddr3 1600mhz ram cas7 overclocked to 1900MHz but you can still run them at 1600mhz so it shouldn’t be a proplem.

    Peace

  16. Spliffstar26 says:

@Arnoud1987000 Crysis uses alot more GPU power than the CPU so thats not suprsising! A game like Bad Company 2, Lost Planet 2 & the Empire/Napoleon Total War Series, use alot more CPU than Crysis does. But the I5 760 @ 3.6GHZ – 4GHZ is still more than enough, even for games in years to come if you have a decent GPU/s

  17. NikkexD says:

@XxaravixX I finally got up to 3.6GHz with 1.22v, then i stopped. (I probably could’ve got it higher with higher voltage) How did you get yours up to 3.8 with so little voltage?

  18. XxaravixX says:

@NikkexD i think you should put the vcore to 1.21 and start overclocking.

  19. NikkexD says:

(this is the second part of my last comment)
The only thing i changed was the voltage, which i bumped up a notch just to be sure it started. I think i set it to 1.14 or 1.15. I have a Noctua NH-U12P cooler in case you wonder. Any suggestions on what may have gone wrong? Great guide though, thanks! :)

  20. NikkexD says:

I just tried this myself with the same processor and almost the same motherboard (i have the PRO version, not sure what differs though). I pretty much copied all your settings (except the RAM stuff, i kept that to default), and my computer just refused to start. I turned it off for a few minutes and restarted it to see the BIOS screen popup for a second and then display "Overclocking Failed!". I got in to the BIOS and reset all the settings and now it runs fine again… i really want to do this.

  21. XxaravixX says:

@tommosso10110 aftermarket cooling means you buying a custom cooler which is not made by intel, intel gives you a boxed cooler with the cpu right? thats a stock cooler, aftermarket coolers are like xigmatek red scorpion like what i use

  22. XxaravixX says:

@stevenan93 that i dont know, looking at your temps i say you can hit 3.8 easily and the voltage bump shouldnt put much stress on it :)

  23. XxaravixX says:

@mickifree12 wtf!!!!! evga makes the best overclocking hardware, check around for a good evga guide :)

  24. XxaravixX says:

@Arnoud1987000 crysis really isnt very cpu orientated its all gpu!

  25. XxaravixX says:

@Arnoud1987000 meh, i dont game much lol
