Core i7 970 4Ghz overclock test and 3dMark06 score

Check out this *secret* site where it’ll show you a cool trick that actually TRIPLES your PC’s performance… Plus tons more!

The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
Just overclocking my CPU to a simple 4Ghz and showing the idle and load temperatures, and the 3dMark06 score. Tried running 3dMark Vantage but it keeps freezing at the CPU "Crash & Burn" test for some odd reason, tried it at stock, same thing. RAM overclocked at 1830Mhz from 1600Mhz using 1.64V. This overclock was not stable but at least I was able to run some benchmarks. CPU cooling: Corsair H50 push and pull config Music: Sean Tyas – Mirella (David Prodygee, Dave Joy & Van de Traxx Remix)

    @KINGhotaru11 The Corsair H50 does fine, and the Noctua cooler is quite big, it will block my RAM slots and I’m running high profile RAM which will interfere with the Noctua cooler.

  2. KINGhotaru11 says:

    u shud get a noctua cooler

  3. user7474 says:

    very nice temps, then i guess my next build will have i7 970

    thanks

  4. ChronoDetector says:

    @user7474 Corsair H50

  5. user7474 says:

    hi, what cpu cooler are you using?

  6. skyline826 says:

    @cisco760ca
    you 4.7ghz but the core i7 970 is just 4.0ghz

  7. jethrostatic says:

    Don’t use 22 as the multiplier. It makes the system unstable, Use 21 or 23.
    I’m liking your temps though. I also have an H50 stable on my 970 @ 4.02Ghz using 23 multi, But my temps are higher than yours. It’s still stable at 4.2Ghz but the temps are touching the 80′s on load P95 so I went down to 4.02 24/7. Ima reseat the H50 when I get home. I WANT YOUR TEMPS!!!

  8. cisco760ca says:

    huh ? that cant be right bud , I have a 2600k i7 at 4.7 and it got a score of 33000. And its a 4 core .

  9. zaxis01 says:

    For all the posters criticizing Chrono for purchasing the I7 970.

    Should be quiet since they obviously have no idea what they’re talking about.

    I own the I7 970 and have it @ 4.5ghz with 1.35v and on air cooling.

    Costed me a little over $500.00 vs the 980x $1000.00+.

    Now tell me what would be the point of paying twice as much for a processor that you would have to ln2 for higher overclocks?

    can you do a cinebench run and post your results, I want to know if you get better scores than an overclocked 2600k

  11. Drebln893 says:

    @rock962000 ..not when it costs crazy money on top, just for lame few more Hz…better of buying SSD with that extra cash.

  12. rock962000 says:

    @Drebln893 Meh.. I would have to disagree. If you’re going to spend that much in the first place, might as well go for the best you can get. IMO.

  13. Drebln893 says:

    @rock962000 …not a waste…the 980x is a 970 just unrestricted…same resluts in the comparison tests. Better buy cause its cheaper.
