The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
I bought a new graphics card which is great but since ive installed it the other fans in my pc (or atleast the one on the motherboard) has started to sound like a vaccum cleaner. My specs are following: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz RAM: 4 GB DDR3 GPU: Gigabyte GeForce gtx 460 super overclocked PSU: Corsair vx550 w OS: Windows 7-64 The original card in this pc was an ati radeon hd 5450, the next card i bought was a xfx radeon hd 5850. 5850 was a great card, i could run metro in setting very high and in 1920×1080 with no lagg or unsmotheness at all. But the card was broken so the screen started to flash and get vertical lines. Then i went to the store and asked if i could get a gtx460 instead of a new 5850. The gtx 460 soc has two big fans and is super overclocked but i didnt know it would speed up all fans in the pc. Is there anyway i could slow downmake the fans more quiet without slowing down the gpu fans?

@KawasakiRider91 Will it fit into most mid tower cases? Im kinda worried it might not fit

un-install all! of your drivers, afterwards use driver sweeper (google it) and then re- install the latest drivers, did the job for mine (mine made the fans spin like crazy, same seems to happen to yours)

@SYLERTUKO i installed the oc guru but i didn’t change anything there a 8pin/4pin cable was the problem

you must get MSI Afterburner. There you can edit the settings.

@DethErection Hi. The card is 25 centimeters (10 inches) long, 12 centimeters (5 inches) wide and 4 centimeters (2 inches) thick. My pc case is 37cm tall x 41cm long and 16.5cm wide on the outside, in case it would be of any use to you :P

    Hi there,

I was looking at buying this card but like you I have a HP Pavilion. I was wondering if you could post the exact dimensions of this card as I have very little room to play with =)

  8. kamizerox says:

Lol isn’t this an HP Pavillion just added with the GTX 460 and replaced with 550 Watt PSU?

    *High Fives*

I got a Pavillion too modified ^^. Bought it refurbished and cheap at the time last year.

    Phenom II x4 810
    8 GB 1066 Mhz Memory
    750 GB HD
    Fatal1ty Modular PSU 550Watts
and MSI GTX 460 Hawk (bought open box deal)

I’m loving my budget rig =D

should i buy the super overclock edition or the normal gigabyte gtx 460oc 1 gb ?
i dunno if it’s worth the money yes i’t clocked higher but is the cooler just as good?
i know the normal gigabyte gtx460oc 1gb has the best cooler of all the gtx460′s

coui dont think its the card it can be very difficult to islate noise in a pc unless you stop each fan im thinking your psu is stressed either causeing its fan to ramp up or confusingly outpuuting to much to one of the fans that card shouldnt be that load its the best 460 money can buy

  11. yionutzful says:

    it’s the fans fault :D

  12. KawasakiRider91 says:

@Pandathegr8 all fans started to go fast as hell when we installed the gpu. Problem is solved, turned out to be a 8/4 pin cable that was the problem :P

  13. Pandathegr8 says:

it might be the case fan m8 just ditch it its not really needed

  14. KawasakiRider91 says:

@Bandabuko Oh thanks yeah im pretty happy with it. Im not very good at this stuff but it says on the manuals or the boxes to all parts how much watt they requires. My card required a minumum of 500 watts and that’s why i replaced my original 300 watt with the vx550. I think your stuff should work just fine. Just test it out, if ur card is broken u should get a new one from the store. i first bought a radeon hd 5850 which was broken so instead of a new 5850 i took this

  15. Bandabuko says:

By the way your rig! looks fantastic! I envy you..

Can i ask a question? please help me out.. i have a generic psu of 500watts.. and my specs are core2duo, EVGA gtx460 1gb, 1gbRam,1bigfan and a 80gb hardisk.. Can my psu handle all of this specs? I did not test it because i’m afraid that my gtx460 which i got for christmas might blow up.. Also i heard that true rated psu can handle this work but i’m poor and still dont have the money to buy. Because they cost a lot like 4000 pesos that’s like 100dollars.. So what are your suggestion?

  19. DaMaddog2882 says:

@PickledBadgerEggs i can play black ops with it 1600×1000 (dont remember exact numbers) + highest graphics, that applies to Black Ops, Medal of Honor (the new one), BattleField Bad Company 2. oh and Fallout too.

  20. PickledBadgerEggs says:

@Donseipo I can play black Ops on 1440*900 with settings med/high and it plays fine – with a GTS250! So if you can’t play with this (GTX 460) card then there’s something wrong with your PC…

  21. mrRisperdal says:

@Donseipo got the same gpu and yes, i can :> whats ur cpu?

  22. Michoacan1964 says:

Very good card. Best bang for the buck. Also have it myself

  23. ducucs says:

@Donseipo I’ve watch a vid and a guy with this graphic card run it with more than 110fps :)
