Gigabyte P55-UD4P Quick overclock

Check out this *secret* site where it’ll show you a cool trick that actually TRIPLES your PC’s performance… Plus tons more!

The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
This is a quick overclock to 3.36Ghz using a P55-UD4P Gigabyte motherboard and Core i7 860 CPU. Why not get a little more from your new chip. I am no expert and this may not be the best way to overclock. Use at your own risk. Good luck.

    @brainstormnl UPDATE

CoolIT ECO A.L.C. CPU Liquid Cooler <– WORKS OUT PERFECTLY max temp stressed 55C

also went with kingston memory also great results.

6 months later and al is well in pc land it performs perfectly.

oc at 3,36ghz need to check if it wil run faster but dont have the time to play with the sttings yet.

@Anton338 CoolerMaster TX-3 is what I use. It depends on the ambient temps but it works good for a cheaper cooler. It’s all I could find when the 1156 socket first came out. That’s when I got the CPU and board.

  3. Anton338 says:

oh and what kind of cooler do you have?

i just put my system together today, and stock idle of 40 is unacceptable.

  4. Anton338 says:

Sweet vid! what about multiplier tho? if you crank it to 22 while base clocking at 160 is it not stable?

@brainstormnl Loos like a great system. All the best!

    cool video thanks ;)

my setup wil be with a watercooler.

    Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3
    Processor – 1 x Intel Core i7 860
    Corsair Dominator 4 GB : 2 x 2 GB – DDR3 – 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 – CL8
Scythe Slip Stream SY1225SL12M <– extra fan for watercooler
CoolIT ECO A.L.C. CPU Liquid Cooler <- anyone have this cpu cooler i wonder ;)

dont trust air coolers when clocking at 4ghz or higher.

i wonder how high i can clock this setup with a watercooler + added fan on the water cooler.

@Madwarrbs I think a small OC would be safe if you use temp monitor software. I have a video on that too. Go for it, just don’t get it too hot. good luck

  9. Madwarrbs says:

Do you think this small overclock would be safe with the standard cooler? I’ve been iching to oc my machine! :)

    @KaasNL

You will notice that memory speeds dont make a heck of a lot of diffrence in game. Even if you ran your memory at 2000mhz, going from 1300mhz to 2000mhz will only see you 1-2fps increase in games. A higher cpu clock if a better option.

    IMO, 3.6ghz with 1333mhz > 3.3ghz with 1600mhz

Otr if you have great cooling, get the best of both worlds with 4.0ghz and 1588mhz
    :D D

  11. sectumsempra55 says:

I get 40-44 degress celcius with my i7 860 @ 3.6ghz on idle and 70-80 no load, but it only gets to 60 degress in games so no biggie..

  12. sectumsempra55 says:

With the P55-UD4, memory speeds cannot be altered just by itself. The memory clocks wil change depending on the CPU’s frequency. Try running at 4.0ghz, you will then see that x8 on the memory is a frequency of 1588mhz, which is just perfect. :D

  13. nate42nd says:

I think you should enable load line calibration. Otherwise it may not get enough voltage and may be unstable. Good luck.

  14. KaasNL says:

ah ic, i havent tried the profiles yet but it sounds usefull, il have a try with it soon :) btw wondering what you think of the load-line calibration. been searching google for it and the opinions are split, i am running with out it because the temperature’s @ full load with prime95 are as much as 5 to 10 degrees lower and also the vcore is lower idle and under load…

  15. nate42nd says:

I run mine at stock most of the time. I normally overclock it on weekends when I play most of my games and watch HD movies. I don’t need to, but it’s fun. I use the "profiles" in the BIOS. Maybe I should make a vid on how to use profiles. Good luck on the decision. It’s true the memory is a consideration. You want to find a happy medium.

  16. KaasNL says:

hi i got a question i got about the same setup only got the gigabyte p55 ud4 (non p) with the i860
im running at 3.6 ghz atm but this way i am not using the full capability of my Memory (1600) u think that is usefull or is it better to set to 3.36 ghz like u did? also is 3.36 ghz really better then stock? (boost should go up to 3.4) thanks in advance

  17. nate42nd says:

The video has this information at 4 minutes.

60 under load and 35 idle

  18. aznvi3tboy209 says:

What are your temps when it’s in idle and under load?

  19. nate42nd says:

Thank you for the kind words. I wish i had done a better job but I hate to take this down now. Thanks again. Have a great day!
