    m11x r2 is a really handy portable and strong laptop for it’s size.. people who say it suck must not know how to update their drivers or overclock… I luckily can oc mine til 1.66 but I brought it down a notch to 1.62 cause I am silvering said it’s the most stable… can play Starcraft 2 in ultra settings… w/o lag in really big battles

    @iamthesilverlining You can flash the ram using a utility but you first must put a 32 bit os cause the program works on 32 Bit only NO Exceptions. Its like flashing your bios to a degree.

    somebody on the comments said to try a different type of RAM. Maybe that would let you get up to 166. If you try it and it works let me know.

  5. ysinha2000 says:

    @leerman22 I have it on 160MHz right now, but still, I was wondering if there was anyway to get 166MHz.

  6. DavisonInc says:

    @Virusly Most processors are capable of running at a high "clock speed" than the manufacturer set it to when your computer was built. Overclocking basically makes your processor run faster and thus improves your performance.

  7. Virusly says:

    Maybe i sound kinda stupid, but what is Over-lock?

  8. leerman22 says:

    @ysinha2000 try a different clock speed then, a lower one. if only the stock speed works then its just bad luck and the cpu just cant overclock.

  9. TDNSLEDANG says:

    @iamthesilverlining ok thank you;)

  10. iamthesilverlining says:

    @TDNSLEDANG
    turbo mode is for the i series of processors only, like the i5 or i7. Not for the processor in the R1. For the R1 you just turn the overclock on and the computer does the rest for you.

  11. TDNSLEDANG says:

    CPU turbo mode. Is that already on with the R1 or ??

  12. dskblade292 says:

    I don’t understand … Isn’t supposed to run at 2.26ghz???

  13. ysinha2000 says:

    Hey, I overclocked my M11x with an i5 520-M and got a BSoD and the only way to fix this was going into the BIOS and un-overclocking it. Can you help me out?

    thanks for sharing!

    @MrTayskis
    You have to have "CPU Turbo Mode" Enabled to be able to see the overclock with the Intel Widget.

  16. MrTayskis says:

    @iamthesilverlining Quick question, do I need turbo boost enabled in the BIOS in order for the intel widget to work?

  17. ind3siszive says:

    you should turn turbo off when overclocking

    Someone test and post using HyperX 1600 Mhz 8 gig kit (2x4gb).

  19. MrHobgobblin says:

    It is mostly all in your RAM . RAM is the pickiest part of the computer. Alienware M11xr2′s adjust ram timings. Because, CPU-Z shows different timings ( Memory Tab ) then the RAM manufacture. My other comment shows things change with different RAM. You will notice a difference in Mhz and name brand.
    I havn’t yet tried Kingston HyperX because it is available at newegg and out of stock for $99.–
    I now have a M11xR1 core2duo that doesn’t offer the choice what to oc Mhz too.
    Nice video.

  20. MrHobgobblin says:

    0:52 you mentioned ”I run mine at 150 because that highest I could get mine"

    If anyone has an issue here .Check your ram.
    I have tested this on M11xR2 i5.

    Crucial 1066 2×4 gb kit. results 160
    Crucial 1333 2×4 gb kit. results 164
    Crucial 1333 2×4 gb kit.results 166 Briefly! after some time.( blue screen of death )
    Also, with Kingston on the phone.We tested oc stepping with 1333 crucial and CPU-Z showing the Mhz rising.
    IF you can..Try 1600 Kingston Hyper X
    I am convinced it’s RAM.

    @NegativeY21
    If you turn speedstep off then you will get a faster overclock but you will also drain your battery much faster. Speedstep saves battery.

  22. NegativeY21 says:

    if i turn on turbo with speedstead will it drain my battery faster then if the turbo was off

  23. iamthesilverlining says:

    @redlantern01 yep there is, intel just released a turbo boost monitor that you can download. All you have to do is goto google and search for Turbo Boost Monitor and the first link will take you to intel to download the monitor. Its a windows desktop widget, and it actually works really well.

  24. iamthesilverlining says:

    @avengedsevenfold115 no it is not dangerous on this computer. This computer only allows you to overclock the processor to a certain level. It limits you to a range that wont damage the chip.
