@mavriskia no you will no be able to use this cpu, the core 2 duo uses a much older socket than socket 1155 cpu’s like this. imacs use alot older technology than current pc standards because they need to incorporate the new technology into their system designs which takes time. however if you were looking to upgrade there is still cpu’s out there that will replace that cpu.
but note the imac your using has been designed to cool only the core 2 duo in your system.
can i use this i5 on my 2010 imac 27 inch? im curently on a Intel Core 2 Duo and im looking into getting one of these so i was wondering if i will be able to use them..

I think both processors are top gaming CPUs. Both shown i5 can be twice faster than a q6600 in many applications at stock speed. If you like manual OC, as many gamers liked it before and if you have to choose beween the two Intel, then the k is more for gaming (the one with the duck on for recognizing), but you don’t recognize it, except you overclock it very high to the nirvana…

Another thing, I’m overwhelmed myself, I don’t know if I should keep my q6600 @ 2,88 GHZ @ 1,38 Vcore, or look forward and take this 2500k game..
My only idea was the power consumption. price: 330 €

@jeggeggo of course the mainboards become better, I’m also surprised by Asrock, who seem to set a new standard in quality at this moment, would be good if its not only for the moment
@jeggeggo @jeggeggo then I would recommend you to take an asus P8H67, the M should be ok, but take a bit care with the extensions in name, I think in comparison to the reference model, certain extensions in the name mean poorer features in construction, OC and stability.
if possible try to take the P8H67 without Evo, M, L in the name, to ensure that you don’t get a slimmed down, except the extensions stand for good features, like Pro, Professional..
but Asus P5Q SE2 = second Edition 2 = less quality in cooling, OC..
In general, of course this mainboards develop and get better and better.. so at this moment the Asrock boards, they become better in many points, it seems that they set a new standard, we will see in some days
Tipp: if its a mainboard with this new Combo Cooler Option (CCO) feature, which has more driil holes, its compatibe to nearly all socket LGA775 coolers, with this in mind I can sleep a bit more easily, so I can take my Alpenföhns EKL Groß C’lockner from older LGA 775 : )
