What does the A20M function + virtualization do? And should I enable or disable them when overclocking?

  3. victor555117 says:

Does this work with the i7 870 also?

@SuperAzproductions : The i7 handles multi-threaded applications, video encoding, and is equipped with better memory controllers than the i5. In most gaming situations, you won’t notice a difference. There are some games which have started utilizing multi-threads, however, and more will in the future, so having the hyper-threaded 4-core processor will be beneficial for a few years at least.

If you are just purely looking to game, the i5 is a great value.

@SuperAzproductions there is obviously going to be a difference in work. and it depends, there are tons of different i5 and i7 processors… some i3 processors are better than some i5 some i5 are better than i7. but it is worth getting an i7 for future games, and a majority of current. i have the 860 and it is great!

@DJBACON8D I want to overclock mine, but did you actually get a performance boost in gaming, or just work? Please answer honestly. I read that there is no difference between an i5 and an i7 for gaming, so an i7 OC can do what more? Thanks for replies!

  8. eirik1122 says:

  9. AlexOnFire424 says:

@DJBACON8D Did you have the H50 as an intake or an exhaust?

  10. ikukelas says:

my temps are way higher at lower speeds i must have used to much thermal grease

  11. TechLogin says:

Thanks for this, Im buying that MOBO and Prosessor too, so now I know what to do when Im gonna overclock it. I think 4Ghz is enough for me =)

  12. rayandjoanne says:

I noticed you changed the QPI frequency, why did you do that?
I have only done a small overclock (3.5 ish) only by raising the base clock to 160 but my qpi is about 9500 in cpuid

  13. darkpontobox says:

@DJBACON8D Hi, sorry my english… I have the same CPU what determine the max temp? At intel site shows the tmax is 72,4 but with the stock intel cooler the CPU reached 79º on cores without overclock is it normal?

I am going to be putting my rig together next weekend- Antec 1200, i7 860, Maximus III formula, GTX 285 (for now) and a Xigmatec Thors hammer. This is a good video to get me started on overclocking!

rockin that antec 1200 nice. got me one half a year ago. its still the best all around cooling case from watercooling to air cooling imo.

  16. Thekilldevilhill says:

@DJBACON8D thats really high, tmax is 68 and you should keep it under that.

  17. kevinxcal1 says:

I can run 4ghz at 1.33V but the little booger is really stinking hot so i run 3.9ghz at 1.312V topping 75C full load.
