Superbrothers: sword & Sworcery EP for the iPad is like nothing else you’ve ever played at. Described as “21st century interpretation of the archetypical old school videogame adventure” uses beautiful unauthorised pixel-scapes to make video games, what is French artists for art.

Project of Indie Studio Capybara, musicians and art from Superbrothers, themselves, sword and Sworcery EP is basically point and click adventure game that sees you lodged as a warrior, to destroy the ancient evil. To do that, you will need to solve puzzles, fight bears and collected an artefact called the Megatome – so far, so that the adventure game. What is the sets of the likes of Kings search are lashings of surrealism, abstraction and poetry, which somehow never slip in infuriating pretentiousness.

The real star was not music or mysticism, however, but visual style. This is absolutely perfect, causing us often stop for a moment or two only to admire scenery — don’t mean feat considering the outstanding quality of most modern games. Landscapes are rich and detailed and close painterly quality reference. There is a rare feeling for artistry sword and Sworcery, which we have seen in a long, long time.

Sword and Sworcery music is still an illustrative, however. Design of sound has been meticulously constructed, fitting perfectly with the games and creates absorption atmosphere which actually hooks you in time. Sounds and music to the end of our first session, built a huge amount of voltage and it was only after the threat, which we won’t name to avoid spoiling it – that we knew that our eyes are stinging from a lack of blinking.

The main drawback of most of the iPad and iPhone games is that they do not take advantage of the touch screen interface or try to Shoe Horn ineffective d-Panel. Point and click games look like ensured victory for touch screens, however, so that the sword and Sworcery is a natural size. It does not limit the conventions of the genre, with tilting screen mechanics regular keys from landscape to portrait to keep things interesting. In landscape mode allows you to navigate with sword and shield equipped, while in portrait position opens your Megatome-combination spell book and aid for the listings.

Sword and Sworcery did all the hard-core art-game, however, there are points of true humour and great subtlety. At one point, for example, the need to travel your dreams to find the lost key, which includes the following bear that dances such as Ricky Gervais in the Office. This is a moment that, as the game as a whole, feels beautifully surreal and strange yet poignant.

Sentencing: Sword and Sworcery may be landmark in the history of mobile games, appears as the first title, we’ve seen the iPad platform so great that blurs the line between games and ambient art. Pensive, intelligent and wonderfully rich, you can feel deep love and Adoration for games that entry into this project and it’s of every pixel.
