I try to be repeated some older desktops, all models, names, etc. (10) has been up and running 2003 or so new. Computers are donated to the center of the community, we are trying to bring back in usable condition. This is the center of the community, we will be trying to set up a Center Lab computer to teach older folks how to interact with your computer does not have the smaller children, allowing, as a computer teacher too much laughter when I mix group.

However, I’d like to be able to get a laptop, plug the USB cable into the port of them and see the system hardware and get an idea what is wrong or prevents them from starting. I am a teacher of MS Office, Windows and naming the parts of a computer, I know how to store and use the recovery. This is, Oh I can change parts simply does not how to find out what bad beyond what the computer tells me my laptops Dell tells me what is wrong and the part which needs to change and I to part and replace it.

When I get charity computers really do not know what you have, I have a different approach then what you propose. I will guide you through what I do. It must not have too long.

First try and power of your computer. If you receive something at boots, the monitor, you are already in pretty good shape. If this is the case, go to the BIOS settings and load fail safe or default settings. Then go to the order of loading and set your CD to be booted from hard disk. At this point, simply insert your Windows disk in the drive and reinstalling. Really do not want to know what is still on your computer.

Secondly if transmission of the power button and the computer is not included, make sure the power is providing power to the motherboard, this can be done by finding all the illuminated LED’s on the motherboard. If this is the case, continue to make sure that you have RAM, hard disk, Cpu, and that they’re all related. If somethings missing, try and use pieces from another computer that does not power up.

If the motherboard has a CPU I leave it. It is easier to swap of other elements, do this instead. To find out what fits RAM, just Google the motherboard part number to get the full specifications. Must have a sticker on each stick of RAM, that let’s you know what it is, hard drive and CDs are all swappable until you have or a free SATA or EIDE port. If EIDE simply do not forget to set the jumpers of the CS.
