The Ultimate CPU Overclocking Guide!
My personal computer Intel core i7 upgrade for 2012. Keep in mind that core i7 2600 and core i7 2600k are 3.4 ghz per core from stock. But overclocking ability make a huge difference between those two processors. K version (i7 2600k) has a great ability when it comes to overclocking, especially extreme air overclocking with high performance heatsink. This is my second i7 for personal use. Pure power when I will overclock it in few days to 4.8-5Ghz at lease. It will replace my Intel core i7 930 overclocked to 4.2Ghz. My goal 4.8-5Ghz i7 2600k should be about 2x i7 930 at stock – I hope, my tests will show. I will do comparison review of i7 930 vs i7 2600k – do not miss it. I will also buy a middle grade video card from AMD Radeon or Nvidia Geforce in 2012. For now my Radeon HD 5750+5770 in crossfire is more than enough for 2011 games. It run every game on 1920×1080 maxed out with average over 30 fps. Keep in mind that I will upload two new video tutorials guide how to overclock socket 1366(chipset x58) and socket 1155(p67 or z68). Do not miss it. I also getting ready some video card review of crossfire 2x 6750, 5750+5770, 2x 6750 + 5750 in crossfire. All parts from my 2012 build: Processor: Intel Core i7 2600k 3.4Ghz (goal is to overclock to 5ghz on each core. Total quad core physical or eight core of virtual cores.) Motherboard: ASROCK Fatal1ty P67 Professional (build with finest components to survive) Memory: 16 gb DDR3 of G.Skill 1600Mhz cas 9 RIPJaws Red memory <b>…<b>

@terorvlad 6xxx just like 5xx series vid cards are not impressive at all at there price point and most people never use even an old i5 to even near the max let alone 2500k and synthetic benchmarks are not reflective of real world usage.Plus software’s are developing slower than Hardware which is why there are 6/8 core CPUs and most software’s still only use 2 cores and now more are just starting to be written to use 4cores.
@leanlifter1 I am highly unsure of that. At certain price points the benchmarks show that the newer > older when it comes with cpu’s and gpu’s. for example why not buy a i5-750 instead of the 2500 ? both are at about the same price but it is clearly that the 2500 outperforms the 760 (with default settings). And I own a 5870 since last year and I am highly satisfied with it, I would’ve still bought it if I knew about the 6000 series.
@terorvlad 5870 will put the hurt on your 6950 in all but the most tessilated of games LOL and the new AMD CPUs should be cheaper because they are slower than Phenom IIs just like the 6950 is lower than a 5870. CPUs are a completely different beast.
@leanlifter1 kk. I just thought it’s going to be like it is with gpu’s. when the 6950 came out, it was cheaper than my 5870 and it was delivering more performance. same with amd’s cpus, the newer are a tad cheaper than their own equivalent in performance (some of em at least)
@terorvlad Intel has never been known for good Price/Performance so I think Alex made the right choice in going with 2600K when it is a tried and true high performance beast and that will not change when this ivy comes out.Plus software is not developing as fast as hardware so 2600K is going to be at the top of the pile for along time yet.
@terorvlad I would not never ever buy i7 2600 as overclocker and enthusiast that looking maximum performance for the buck. Instead of NONE K 2600 I would buy i5 2500k and clock it to 4.8 ghz at least.

@terorvlad When ivy will come – it will be expensive. You will need to buy a motherboard for them z77 and etc. I get a perfect change to sell my i7 930 and get myself i7 2600k. I get a perfect price for p67 premium high end motherboard 190 bucks from amazon. It is top end. I am bet for Ivy to get top end mobo and cpu I will pay around 600-700 bucks. In my case I paid less than 500 for mobo and cpu, so why not? It has a perfect overclocking potential that I will squeeze to the max.
Don’t buy a sandy bridge yet. wait for ivy. Bet the performance/price will be much better than the 2600′s
@jrpower5 WHat bios flash when Ivy Bridge will be for z77 chipsets? It will be not compatible with motherboard at all. You are on that marketing bull story about bios flash for ivy so people will buy z68 – even those who has p67? Well this will nto happen, Ivy Bridge will required different chipset as well. Sorry for those with z68.
true, but people could buy an ivy bridge CPU and flash the BIOS of their p67 or z68 motherboards.
@krasav4ik82 I will be in heaven for that kinda bang for the buck however I am content with my current setup for right now but in New year 7xxx if it is like what you are claiming it is all over for me LOL if not then HAWK Editon 6870 CFX it is.
@leanlifter1 Of course not. But still a perfect deal. Especially if you will buy 2x 6870. However If you have a good setup and setisfy with fps, I suggest you to wait till the march 2012 and buy yourself a middle end video card for about 200 bucks that will be as fast as 2x 6870.
@krasav4ik82 WHHAAAAAA not the HAWK Edition for $160 if so rock on ?
@leanlifter1 Yeah Hawk Edition from MSI video cards are awesome. Currently you can Radeon HD 6870 from Newegg 160 bucks after rebate.
@krasav4ik82 After much researching I have found that the Msi Radeon HD 6870 HAWK Edition card for around $200 is the best card to buy today with 1ghz overclock reaching same performance as GTX 570 for over $120 less.
@leanlifter1 Yeah but I believe this generation of Nvidia and AMD video cards dont scale in 3-4 way crossfire or SLi well. Maybe it is lack of architecture of bandwidth that pci-x 2.0 offering. I am not sure. We will see when I will try to run 2x radeon hd 6750 + Radeon HD 5750 that – I am more than sure. But it will be interesting thing to see. I also will release a video when I will go i7 930 vs i7 2600k at all tests and at different frequencies. Where I will deeply analyze those.
@krasav4ik82 The only good combo that Nvidia has today is for the very very few that can pay for the best of the best of the best the GTX 580 in 4 way SLI and for anyone whom cannot afford that it is in there best interest to support Radeon HD GPUs.
@leanlifter1 Yeah GTX 580 is highly overpriced. 2x 6870 that can be picked for 160 bucks per card at sales during Christmas and New year over newegg – will eat GTX 580 on breakfast.

@krasav4ik82 the last great Nvidia card was GTX 460 and it to was overpriced and today Radeon HD 6970 is matching the performance of GTX 580.
@leanlifter1 Yeah I agreed. 5870 was a great card for a single card. However in crossfire it did not scaled well as newer radeon 69xx series does. But I agreed Radeon HD 5870 is still right now more than enough to play any game maxed out 1920×1080. Nvidia cards are overpriced, that is why second year I am without Nvidia cards.
@wssroach As I said,Intel Core i7 2600k is a legend,it is second best processor in the history of Intel that delivers excellent performance and excellent overclockability vs money. It was my dream to put my hands on this processor.I bet it will be something like that in the near future. In 2012 nothing like that is coming.Plus I want to do a overclocking guide socket 1155 K processors for my subscribers-where I will explain everything.Ivy bridge will be on different motherboard and etc.
@HintzeDesignHD anything at stock. At 4.8-5.0Ghz i7 2600k will even beat even stock intel core i7-3960x machine. Single Intel core i7 3960x processor cost for $1100 not including other components. Also make sure you support me, make sure you clicked on what I asked you to click.
This setup is the best money = performance build in 2012.
