@farshnuke Windows is better, however , I like Ubuntu but just running a simple exe is complex in any linux system. yes you have wine but ive never got it to work with games and even running java games is a hole complex root command. windows makes it simple and I have had no problems with Windows 7, in fact id say its the best OS by far! it even beets the new osx for me!

  3. farshnuke says:

@acapon Fair enough, it is for me though

  4. acapon says:

@farshnuke Yes but ubuntu is not considered as an upgrade from windows 7 in this persons case.

  5. farshnuke says:

@acapon Yes, they would, because if something works and you know how to use it then you’re naturally prejudiced against something you don’t know or use. ‘I think therefore I am’ We implicitly judge our own instincts before others. Yes, this conversation is meaningless, you just made a cheap pop at my chosen OS and instead of simply making a cheap joke back, I tried to make you consider the possibility that perhaps most OSes are broadly similar and generally just as effective in their own ways.

  6. acapon says:

@farshnuke This conversation is pretty meaningless in all honesty. theirs About 95% of all computer users to this day that run window platforms, and because of that im sure that a higher percentage would agree that windows overall is better. period

  7. farshnuke says:

@acapon Yes but I feel that if you have to break the law to achieve freedom, it’s probably not a nice place to live.
Ubuntu gets me by well enough and I see no real advantage in Windows, except to make a load of programs I neither need nor want run and so I opt for legal freedom. You may well consider Windows’ large insular platform tantamount to the freedom of having an OS compatible with numerous other OSes and the ability to illegally hack the same as opensource distribution and that’s fine.

  8. farshnuke says:

@acapon Are you really too thick to see the wood for the trees? I am talking about actual legal freedom, about not having to agree to a thousand clauses and subclauses before you can use a programme, about being free to decompile the software and code it your own way should you so wish, about being able to take the operating system you love tweak it to suit your image of perfection, then distribute it. There’s nothing Windows does well enough to outweigh the legal negatives.

  9. acapon says:

@farshnuke The lack of freedom? what else would you like it to do that ubuntu offers and windows doesn’t? what possibly could there be that offers so much more freedom in ubuntu other than windows. Customisabily? well that’s not an issue because there are many programs in which you can run in windows to change that, ubuntu doesn’t have anything in specific that bring more to the table.

  10. farshnuke says:

@acapon Ubuntu is so good because its open source, because it has the freedom you tout for Windows when all Windows really has is the entire freedom of its own platform while Ubuntu is multiformat compatible and unbiased by cash, legality does not chain its users. It’s a versatile system that can work well on basic, older computers and soar as on my own. My chief complaint about Windows is no longer just petty programming issues, rather the lack of freedom.

  11. acapon says:

@farshnuke What glitches are you actually talking about with windows 7, i personally have been using windows 7 ultimate for around a year now maybe a little less and its perfect. not one flaw, people find that ubuntu in there case is better too have when they have a lower spec computer because there worried about the extra 10g space that the operating system takes.. pfft not really worried in my case. also if ubuntu is so good then why is it not on the market? making any profit?..

  12. farshnuke says:

    @acapon
Oh and definition of stable and easy navigation please, I have no bugs, no glitches, no issues and I can find any application in 3 easy clicks, where as Windows requires navigating a maze of menus and submenus. Like I said Windows is buggy, and you’re paying for those bugs.

  13. farshnuke says:

@acapon And Windows is of course renowned for its compatibility to Ubuntu is it? It’s common knowledge apparently that you can just port any Ubuntu application (of which there are many and 99.99% of them free) into Windows with as much ease as downloading Spotify and selecting ‘run in wine’?

Oh sorry it’s just that you’re berating Ubuntu for a problem created by Windows, namely that they try their best to be as incompatible as possible with free oses.

  14. acapon says:

@farshnuke All im saying is, Ubuntu being free and all = yes very worth while, but if you want something more stable and capable of easy navigation and almost limitless application usage then use windows, ubuntu still has to use things such as wine to run windows programs which don’t always work as it is.

  15. farshnuke says:

@acapon Ah, yes, scientific experimentation, tests, statistics and analyses. Wow big shock the big bucks are better. In real life though Windows crashes every 5 minutes (at least it seems that looking back), freezes, prohibits more than basic multitasking without running on a go slow/crashing/freezing and requires routine maintenance to keep it in shape (defragmenting, regular shutdowns etc). With ubuntu you get your os, install your applications, allow the upgrades and play without limits.

  16. acapon says:

@farshnuke I would love to challenge Windows 7 to Ubuntu Linux in actual foss applications… try ripping a DVD movie, converting music from FLAC to mp3, converting Xvid video at 1280x1080p resolution and downloading a torrent file with your web browser and opening 3 tabs at least and listening to music at the same time in a machine with a dual core, 2GB memory, Intel Video card… that’s a great challenge… the actual using of applications in an os.

  17. farshnuke says:

@acapon Well I guess it all depends on whether you consider microsoft a power hungry corporation who produce needlessly complicated software or not.

Bottom line, Windows is made for money, Ubuntu is made to meet demand

  18. acapon says:

overclock to 4ghz and sort out your cable managment, then it will be beast

  19. acapon says:

@farshnuke i wouldnt call ubuntu an upgrade lol

  20. fileman73 says:

nice pc, but get a deathadder or a good logitech gaming mouse :)

  21. farshnuke says:

Nice spec, and you got a terabyte of memory. I’ve only got 500 without the external harddrive, I only got an AMD Athlon II quad core. Nvidia’s good though and Windows 7 does look sweet but I had to upgrade to Ubuntu
