@Buzzlightweightuk i have a Zalman CNPS 10X Extreme with full tower thermaltake armor case with a few more added case fans temps are quitre low i gamed at 5ghz in crysis for a while and it hit 50′s top just cant get it stable though will blue screen its possiable it might be my ram though….
@Buzzlightweightuk damn keep running into stable problems i cant get 5 ghz stable even a 1.5v 3.7ghz seems pretty rock solid at 1.4 i have a problem when i run intel burn test once tghe core temps rech 65c it throttles down the cpu to only like 3.6ghz why is it doing this i have changed evrything you have and yurned temp protection off another problem for me i think i have a faulty stick of ram its supose to run 2133 9-11-10-28 but it only stable with 1600 11-11-11-28 think you could help please
hi mate is 5ghz/ 1.45v good for 24/7 or should i lower it to 1.39 4.7ghz 24/7?
@Buzzlightweightuk Thanks for the advice. I have to running at 5Ghz at the moment on 1.456v. It idles in the mid to high 30′s and reaches high 70′s during gameplay. Prime95 pushes it to about 84 degree’s. At the moment I can’t push the memory over 1600 without a BSOD even though it is rated for 2133. I’m still playing with the settings though trying to find that optimal setup. Your guide helped a lot though so thanks.
@diddler1979 i would not try for 5ghz unless i will rocking a noctua nh d-14 i would step back to 4.7/8
@Buzzlightweightuk Ok, just set my settings to the same as yours in the vid and now seems to be sticking to 5Ghz on prime. My temps are hitting the 80′s though so will prob drop it back. I’m currently using a Noctua NH-U12P cooler with two 120mm fans set to push/pull.
Tried doing some 3DMark benchmarks and they complete successfully but the CPU score is always way down on my old i7 920 OC’d to 4.2Ghz. It’s like the 2600k is defaulting to stock during these benchmarks.
@diddler1979 you need to enable speed step and change the values to between short 180-230 long 140-200, or it is your chip thermally throttling. what temps are you hitting? what cooler are you using?
Very nice video mate. I have pretty much exactly the same system (CPU & mobo at least) and this helped me hit 5Ghz.
Question though, have you noticed that when running something like 3DMark or Prime95 the CPU is throttling back to 3.8Ghz?
